Rianxo is a quiet harbour town that is situated by the sea and in a secluded sea inlet, the Ria Arousa which is a large tidal wáter inlet with the River Ulla estuary. Seafaring is a major style of its streets, from the traditional art of fishing “o xeito”, up to the fishermen´s houses measuring the width of an oar “do remo”. Enjoy the mild Atlantic climate of the protected Rias Baixas in Galicia, which offer beaches with calm waters, family friendly and very safe for bathing.
Endowed with a great artistic and landscape heritagethat has served the inspiration of at least three outstanding figures of prestige, both politically and poetical authors (Castelao, Dieste and Manuel Antonio) in Galician and that converged to the Rúa Abaixo, where their lives were made even more symbolic.
Celebrating different pilgrimages and traditional processions throughout the year but the one which summons the crowds, and transcends its borders, is the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, in which thousands of people gather together to sing “Rianxeira”, the second hymn of Galicia.
